College Essay

Recently I've been thinking about my college essay and how I still need to write it. Its just been lingering in the back of my mind and I kinda just convinced myself that my topic will just come to me and I'll spit out an essay, but sadly that has NOT happened.  My mother has been saying stuff to me for genuinely like a month and I just have no clue. So instead im sitting here writing a blog post instead of my essay!

Napaholic

Ever since school has started I've been napping like absolute crazy. I only go in for 5 periods and get home around 1 and it gives me so much time, I nap and then I can go and do things around town. Last year I'd come home at 3, take a nap till like 7, eat dinner and go to bed. But now that I get home so early the world is my oyster and I can basically do whatever I wish with all my time. Its also helpful with homework because I can usually finish it before school is actually out.

Outfit Galore

Now that i've finally started school, I am so exciting to going back and picking cute outfits every day. For months I've been planning out cute outfits in my head for me to wear as I got new clothes. Ever since freshman year I've been keeping a log of all my school outfits in my notes app. Everyone who sees it says im so ridiculous but it's a good way for me to keep track of what I've worn recently, and helps me not repeat outfits too heavily.

Senior Scrapbook

For my senior year I've decided to make a senior scrapbook and I am honestly just so excited for the finished result. I've been planning out what the pages will be and I can just see it coming together in my head. Because of this scrapbook I've been an actual picture demon. I think I took more pictures at last friday's football game than I have at all the other games combined. Although I feel like thats a positive because im saving a lot more memories from my last high school year!!

Phone Ban

This year at my school they banned phones and I am actually not okay. Im a senior this year and Im going to have absolutely so much downtime and not enough tasks to fill it. Although maybe this will be good cause I can finish reading some books on my list during my free periods, and maybe start drawing a lot more again. I am very upset about how this also means no headphones. I genuinely had my airpods in almost every second of the day for the past 3 years, I just cannot imagine going to school without music. Although because I'm a senior I don't have a lot of classes and I get out at 12:30 which I'm very thankful for. I'm not sure what schools are trying to accomplish by banning phones because if its cheating I feel that will always be an issue. Even in recent years teachers have started taking our phones before tests so I don't see why that couldnt have just been enough. People have been cheating on tests for years, even before technology, so I feel people will just have to find more innovative ways.

Wishes

I wish so bad that I was good at speaking to a camera. I see cute grwm on my tiktok fyp all of the time, and I've always wanted to make my own grwm account; But unfortunately I am actually the most awkward person on camera.. hence why I picked up blogging. Recently I've also grown very fond of 'get dressed with me's. I just think they are so adorable and I love seeing the thought process and how people style their pieces.

First day of school jitters

I start school in little over a week and I am so nervous!! Its my senior year and im honestly just so excited that it's finally my last year of high school. Im only in school till 12:30 this year and that genuinely is like nothing, which is so crazy to me! Im mostly worried about college stuff since I have to be thinking about that soo soon. Phones are also completely banned at my school this year and honestly im not sure how im about to go about that, I've been an absolute airpod warrior at school and I dont think I can go all day without my music.

Trick Or Treating

Recently I've been thinking about Trick Or Treating again. With fall basically right around the corner its almost that time again. I just loved running around my neighborhood then going home and trading the candy I got with my friends. I may be a little too old for trick or treating and the last time I went was like 4 years ago when I was 13 but it just seems like something I wanna partake in again. I started having this thought because suddenly I smelt that smell when you stick ur head in ur candy bag and ur hit with the scent of all your candy (does anyone know what I'm talking about?). I just want to experience that scent again, so nostalgic.

You may now kiss... Wheres the groom??

Lately I've been thinking about how badly I've wanted to get married. Like that sounds so insane cause im only 17 and I have so much life to live but I wanna have a wedding!! But the thing is I wanna have the wedding and then not actually be married. Like I want the joys of planning the wedding, like picking a venue, trying cake, buying a dress, and having all the people I love together; But they after I just want to go home and live the life I've been living, without a groom. I've also been imagining my ring!! Like I just know it would be so gorgeous!

Bedroom Goals

Whenever I was little I was the biggest fancy nancy girl, she heavily influenced who I am today. In one of her books she displays her bedroom and I think about that page so so so often. Her bedroom is just so adorable and I need my room to display the exact same vibes. I am a diy girly through and through so a lot of my decor is handmade and I really feel this adds a personal touch to the room. I don't know where id be without cardboard and paint honestly. I also cannot stand a blank wall in my room, I see it as a project, or potential for new decor. customizing my living space will always be a favorite past time of mine.

Shoes Galore

Just like every girl out there I absolutely adore shoes and I think they can def make or break a fit. Although recently I've been feeling like I have WAY too many shoes (shocking!). A week ago I rearranged my whole closet and the shoes were a very constant issue. These were also all only winter shoes considering all of my summer shoes are downstairs in the mud room. I thought I had solved my shoe storage issue and when I tell you I discovered more shoes I hadn't put away.. I was so done. (these shoes are in fact still sitting on my bedroom floor). Because of my abundance of shoes I thought id share my most worn pairs!

1. Uggs
I absolutely love my uggs in the fall & winter they are just so adorable. My ultra minis are my most worn pair although I do own the disquettes and the tasmans.

2. Converse
converses have been my go to sneakers for literal years. In my middle school years I wore my black converse to DEATH, and now I have a white pair that I frequent pretty often

3. Birkenstocks
I have the arizona sandals and I absolutely love them. They are always the easiest thing to slip on and they always some what match my outfits. I also decorated them and made little bracelets for the edges of them

4. Old Navy Fiip-flops
I have found old navy flip-flops to be so so so good and they are just so cheap. I think all of my pairs have been around 5 bucks. I will say that they arent too comfortable and I did get blisters from walking around an amusement park with them on but they are honestly such good basics. Every year I go back and buy a new color cause the selection is so grand, I think I own about 4 or 5 pairs of them.

I hope someone out there can find as much joy in simple shoes that I can.

Recipe Review

Yesterday I made these giant chocolate chip cookies and they were soo scrumptious. They were crunchy on the outside and chewy on the inside. They had that caramelized taste and it made them so perfect. I got the recipe from tiktok and I totally recommend. I'll be putting the recipe down below so you guys can try them too. I hope you guys enjoy them as much as I do!

 Yields 6

2 1/4 cups all purpose flour (spooned & leveled)

    1 1/2 tsp cornstarch

    1 tsp baking soda

    1/2 tsp salt

3/4 cup (12 tbsp) unsalted butter, softened to room temp

3/4 cup packed light or dark brown sugar

    1/2 cup granulated sugar

1 egg + 1 egg yolk, at room temp

    2 tsp vanilla extract

1 1/2 cups semi sweet chocolate chips

1. Preheat oven to 325F (163C). Line 3 large baking sheets with parchment paper or silicone baking mats (If you don't have 3, bake in batches)

2. Whisk flour, cornstarch, baking soda, & salt together.

3. Using a stand mixer fitted with a paddle attachment, beat the butter, brown sugar, & granulated sugar together in a large bowl on medium-high speed until combined and creamy, about 2 minutes. Add egg, egg yolk, & vanilla, then beat on medium-high speed until combined. Scrape bowl as needed. Beat in the dry ingredients on low, then beat in the chocolate chips until combined. The dough will be thick

4. Divide dough into 6 portions. Each will be about 1/2 cup. Shape each into a mound slightly flattening down the top. Place two on each baking sheet, at least 6 inches apart

5. Bake for 20-25 minutes or until edges and top are lightly browned. The center will look super soft, but it will set as the cookie cools.

6. Cool the cookie on the baking sheet for 15 minutes, then transfer to a wire rack to cool completely.

    Enjoy!!

Slumber Parties

I think sleepovers are one of my favorite things ever. I love seeing my friends for extended periods of time and just finding new and fun things to do them. Currently I've had a sleepover with my friend 3 days in a row and were going to do a 4th tonight! I adore when I have friends that don't drain my social battery. I feel so grateful to have friends who love me so deeply. Recently my friends and I have been finding ridiculously bad movies to watch, some of them are so bad I just cant look away. (Tubi has some awful ones). Sometimes at sleepovers we do all the steryotipcal sleepover things like spa nights and just giggling together and it makes me feel so connected to girlhood.

Curating YOUR Stack: Earrings

As much as the next girl I do wish I could have an ear full of piercings, unfortunately, I can't deal with the healing process and my ears are honestly too small for much more; but despite that I've curating my earring stack to be just what I want. I have 3 lobe piercings with a hoop in each one. 3 hoops seems overwhelming but they are all pretty small and decreasing in size as they go up my ear. I have had 2 hoops and a stud but sadly all of my smaller studs have basically tarnished to the point of being unwearable. I love the subtle bling of smaller hoops. My 3 are all different like textured hoops to keep the visual aesthetic. The earrings that stay in my ears usually are the ones that don't look like they are decaying after a couple months. I found my pura vida ones hardly tarnish and still look gold and I'm so in love with them. But I do adore changing my earrings from time to time and trying something new. Its like customizing my character and its so fun.

Closet Clean-out

I spend a lot of my free time shopping or in stores, I'm constantly buying new clothes and that has eventually caused me to run out of space for new clothes. I vividly remember the days when my biggest closet issues was running out of hangers, now its running out of space for the hangers. Unfortunately since my brother won't let me use his empty closet space Im left with no other choice to clean out mine. Whenever I am cleaning out my closet I work in sections, I find it much easier to tackle the task when I can visualize a smaller issue first. Most of my unwanted clothes I give away to my local goodwill or demote some of my old shirts to pajamas (I am just way attached to my old stuff). Although in the start its very difficult to see my old things go but its like a weight lifted off my shoulders to see my closet door close, and all of my clothes fit nicely in there. Until a while later when I rebuy all of the clothes and the process starts again. I find organizing all of my clothing therapeutic, how do you feel about it? Till next time!

Procrastination Queen

Recently I've been struggling with bouts of procrastination. Wether thats chores, work, or even just things I need to do I find myself putting it off till the last second. I just went on a vacation that I was excited for months, and I still found myself packing the night before. Usually when I'm struggling heavily with things like these I'll try to do some of the task before giving up. So when I pick it back up again I have less things to do. The main thing I'm procrastinating with right now is my summer work for school. I keep setting reminders on my phone and yet they always get pushed back or snoozed.

Let me know what you guys are procrastinating on currently!

Passing Time

Since its summer I've had lots of time to myself to do what my heart desires. I love unplugging from my devices and relaxing. I wanted to share some of my favorite hobbies and time passers that don't involve screens.

1. Sudoku

I love challenging myself with new sudokus', I try to do a one or two every day to relax. Whenever I don't have my paper book of sudokus I will do the New York Times one but thats rare.

2. Puzzles

I was on an absolute puzzle grind the beginning of summer and it was some of the most fun i've ever had. me and my friends would get together and sit and do puzzles for hours. If you need silent bonding time with you're friends this is it!

3. Baking

I always adoring eating the treats I make. This one to an extent includes screens, since i'll use my laptop to follow recipes; but I always love a good paper recipe out of my moms cookbooks, it always takes me back to my childhood.

4. Friendship Bracelets

I am obsessed with making friendship bracelets. They are just so portable and a perfect thing to keep your hands busy. I always attach them to my hydroflask (sksksk!) So I can take them wherever I go.

Share what your favorite screenless hobbies are!

study study study

As the new school year is approaching I thought I'd share my most beloved study tips that have worked for me throughout al my years!

    1. study with friends

I have found getting together with people that are in my class helps so much! you can compare notes and see other peoples perspectives.

    2.  change locations

I love studying in places like a cafe or a library. Changing my surroundings helps build     my focus and keeps me on track. Whenever I go to a cafe I'll always get myself a treat which  puts me in a positive mood.

    3. listen to music

Lots of people find music distracting but I love having it on quietly in the background. I find it helps me stay calm and not overwhelm myself.

    4. patterns

Whenever I have a test coming up I always try to find some sort of pattern in the materials. I could always see these patterns when I was studying for my chemistry tests. I had to remember the chemical formula for sulfate (SO4), and the way I remembered it        was it looked like soul, which sounds like sul, therefore sulfate.

    5. take breaks

When your studying you don't want to have information overload. Its good to take breaks every once in a while to give your brain a break. I'll always go to the bathroom, make myself a snack, or answer some texts

Best of luck to everyone in their new school year
